Two Palmer teenagers were killed and their friend was injured Tuesday morning when the off-road vehicle they were riding struck a cable blocking a private entrance near the Knik River, Alaska State Troopers said.

Justin D. Vaughn and Robert J. Walker, both 17, died at the scene of the 4:50 a.m. accident at Mile 2 of Knik River Road near Palmer, said trooper spokesman Steve Wilhelmi. Alcohol and speed were factors in the accident, Wilhelmi said. An investigation is continuing.
